We were honoured to be part of Blake Hall’s first wedding of 2018 on Saturday 3rd March for the beautiful marriage of Joe and Jeff. I don’t think I have ever paid so much attention to the weather forecast as much as I did on the run up to that weekend! The Beast from the East was proving to be problematic over much of the country and Essex was no exception. We had, in total, about 8” of the white stuff in Westcliff on Sea and I was really worried about the delivery of their wedding cake. Luckily the wonderful Mr Sticky Fingers Cake Co was on hand and we managed to deliver their wedding cake with no problems – although I have to say it was quite stressful!
So, Joe and Jeff decided on having an iced wedding cake which made a really nice change. Normally when we’ve delivered to Blake Hall, it’s with a naked wedding cake or semi naked wedding cake, so the fact that they wanted an iced cake was lovely. Their colour scheme was white and silver so their wedding cake reflected this and they had white sugar flowers with white lustre for an extra bit of sparkle (which, let’s face it, matched the weather outside perfectly!) and silver dots on two of the tiers to match the colour scheme. The cake was displayed on an apple crate which they had personalised – a perfect way to show off your wedding cake in a barn style venue. The yummy flavours they chose to have were traditional fruitcake, rich dark chocolate and Madagascan vanilla.
They had a lovely array of personalised nik-naks as well which was fab and obviously Bag Puss had some sentimental value to them (who doesn’t love Bag Puss?!) so all in all, a really perfect day was had by all.
A little bit of snow wasn’t going to hold them back and we were happy to hear that they all had a wonderful day. Looking forward to seeing the professional photos guys!
Happy baking!
