With 2017 drawing to a close I just wanted to say a BIG THANK YOU to all of our couples who had a Sticky Fingers Cake Co wedding cake this year. Thirty four wedding cakes with one more to go on 28th December making 2017 the busiest year at Sticky Fingers Cake Co HQ yet!
Here are a few selected wedding cakes from our year:
Our year kicked off with Muzala and Bruce who were married at The Lawn, Rochford; they chose to have a 4 tier version of our “Bella” cake adorned with a beautiful fresh flower topper supplied by Courts of Rayleigh
Two wedding cakes on one day in May was slightly nerve wracking for me as it was the first time I had done that but it went without a hitch! First of all, off to the beautiful Blake Hall, Ongar with Charlotte and Chris’s yummy three tier naked wedding cake lovingly displayed on top of a personalised rustic apple crate
then onto The Lawn again for Mariam and Peter’s awesome four tier baby pink and gold wedding cake with my first ever foray into sugar ruffles around the bottom tier which contrasted beautifully with the simplicity of the upper tears. All finished off with their cute panda bride and groom topper which I made from sugar
I’m always up for doing something different and when Hayley and Dave asked me to make them a Star Wars inspired wedding cake, well I couldn’t say no! So here is their three tier square twisted design (subtle) Star Wars cake which we delivered to Sutton Hall, Rochford in June
Hours of sugar-work (one of my very favourite things) went into making Peter and Debbie’s four tier floral cascade wedding cake. An absolute joy to make! This was delivered to The Lawn in June
Onto the gorgeous Houchins in Coggeshall in July for Laura and Jon’s beautiful summer wedding. Nothing suits Houchins more than a semi-naked wedding cake which I decorated in summer berries and a few selected fresh flowers. Stunning!
It was back into some Vintage creativity in July for Jay and Ian’s three tier cake, this really is me in a cake; lace, sugar pearls and open sugar roses – lovely! Delivered to the gorgeous Roslin Beach Hotel in Southend.
Jennifer and Lee’s wedding cake in August was so cute! Just a simple two tier wedding cake finished off with cute bows and eight cupcakes topped with sugar sunflowers. So pretty.
Back to Blake Hall, Ongar for Jessica and Tim’s big day in August. It was such a pleasure to bake them a stunning four tier naked wedding cake finished off with summer berries, a dusting of icing sugar and their rustic topper, displayed on our chunky log stand
Jumping ahead October and one of my most favourite cakes of the year, mainly because of how it looked once I’d decorated it with clusters of peach David Austin roses, autumnal berries and foliage. I think it looks stunning! So thank you to Helen and James for choosing to have such a beautiful Autumnal theme. Their venue was The Old Parish Rooms, Rayleigh. Fabulous flowers supplied by Blume of Rayleigh
Finally, the most sparkly of wedding cakes I’ve ever made! Delivered to The Lawn, Rochford for Lydia and John who had the most gorgeous wintery wedding…. five tiers of glitter, diamante and sparkle! Perfectly framed by the Lawn’s lovely Christmas tree…
Thank you again to all of you. With twenty eight wedding cakes already booked for 2018 it looks as though I will be even busier next year!
Merry Christmas and a very happy 2018 to everyone.
Happy baking!
